Happy New Year and yes, the league is moving forward into a new year with a new wrinkle presented. American league owners will now adopt a national league team and vice versa. Example: Toronto would adopt Pittsburgh and run both teams. Trades would be permitted to trade between the teams that are approved by the commissioner's office. I believe we have fifteen owners and that balances the thirty-team schedule. Please claim the open team that you will accept responsibility for.

Interesting - So there was talk of a commissioner change a while ago. There was a bit of conversation on changing the league a month back, which seemed to lead to nowhere. All of a sudden, a decision is made - by the original commish, no less, and an owner who was undecided on returning quickly claims my team. Cute! Funny how the league has been dead in the water for a month, aside from a few, including me, updating things and waiting for a more clear cut resolution to this league and this is how it goes down. Pretty poor setup if you ask me! Royals - enjoy my awesome minors system and I fully expect that you’ll be dominating this league for quite some time to come because of it. Good riddance, Gopherball League! |

I imagine that the Royals looked at the roll call for 2022 and didn't see Padres, so he assumed it was available. Understandable.
During the hold on activity for the last month or so I noticed that the Padres were checking in pretty much everyday. He's an active owner that I'd hate to see our league lose. Myself, even checking in everyday I've missed seeing the roll call posts in the past. If Padres would stay I think it'd be a good idea to offer his team back and have the Royals pick another national league team.

This sounds like it could be a fun idea. I'm not quite sure how it'll work with with Fantrax and Proboards accounts, but it's intriguing enough to me to give it a shot. The problem is that it is already disorganized. We have three threads on Proboards where we are discussing who is returning and what we are going to do. Even this announcement which is a major change to the structure of the league is buried in a roll call thread. Teams are claiming teams that have already been claimed. It might be best to send out a message to all owners with the new plan (with any additional details that you would like to add) and start a new thread where we can claim our second team. A list of claimed and unclaimed teams in each league would be a huge help as well. Like I said, it's an intriguing idea, I hope it works.

Blue Jays - Pirates
Reds - Twins
Mets - White Sox
Giants - Rangers
Royals - Padres
Astros - Brewers
D'Backs- Tigers
A's - Rockies
Yet to pick a second team: Phillies, Mariners, Guardians, Dodgers, Braves, Rays (I'm not sure if the Cubs or Cards owners are coming back)
Available teams to pick - AL: Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox, Angels
Available teams to pick - NL: Marlins, Nationals, Cubs(?), Cards(?)
