Scoring/Playoffs
-Gopher Ball is a 12-category (6x6) Roto league. The 12 categories are divided evenly as six hitting and six pitching as follows:
-Pitching Categories: QS, Saves, Holds, Strikeouts, ERA, WHIP
-Hitting Categories:Runs, HRs, RBIs, Stolen Bases, Batting Average, OPS
-First place in each category is worth 30 points, while last place in each category is worth 1 point.
-Only the 18 players designated as starters for your team on the Fantrax site accumulate stats for you in each category. Bench players and minor league players, along with players listed as on your DL, do not score points in any category.
Playoffs
-Overall standings as of the first Sunday in September will determine the playoff teams. Playoff teams will be determined by the highest scoring team from each AL/NL West, Central and East division, according to the overall 30 team standings, as well as the highest placing two non division winners (the Wild Card). The Wild Card team can not play a team from the same division it is associated with in the first round. Statistics accrued from your active lineup only are counted.
-First round playoff stats are accrued from the first Monday in Sept until the following Sunday. The team with the most 6x6 categories won (cumulative) will advance to the ALCS or the NLCS.
-The NLCS and ALCS will occur from the second Monday in Sept until the following Sunday. The team with the most 6x6 categories won (cumulative) will advance to the World Series.
-The World Series will occur from the third Monday in Sept until the last day of the regular season. The team with the most 6x6 categories won (cumulative) is the WS Champion.
If any teams are tied at the end of the week, the winner will be determined first by looking at the cumulative overall standings. The YTD stats will be pitted up against one another, 2 point awarded for winning a category, 1 point for losing, and the higher total will win. If this method results in a tie, the team with higher total AB + (IPx3) for that playoff week will win. If that is still a tie, the team with higher total AB + IPx3 for YTD accrued stats will determine the winner.
