Trading is open nearly year-round in Gopher Ball Dynasty League. The only time trading is not allowed is the period between the in-season trade deadline and the opening of off-season transactions.
Making a Trade
-To complete a trade in Gopher Ball Dynasty League, the GM’s for each team involved must post their approval of the trade in one thread on the Proboards site. One GM should post the trade along with all contract info for each player involved in the trade, and the other GM(s) should announce their approval of the trade and contract details.
-If a trade is announced and the contract details are incorrect but not recognized until a later date, the second GM has the right to void the trade within a reasonable amount of time.
Roster Updates
-All trades announced on the Proboards site and agreed upon by both teams involved are considered approved unless told otherwise by the commissioner’s office. Immediately after all teams involved have announced their approval of the trade on the Proboards site, all teams involved should make the necessary changes on their roster page on the Proboards site as well as process the trade on the Fantrax site.
Vetoed Trades
-The commissioner’s office holds the right to veto any trade deemed to be unfair or non-legit. There will never be a vote taken on the fairness of a trade and there is no veto system. Any veto decision will come from the commissioner only.
-If a trade is made that you believe is unfair or should be looked at, you have the right to say so through private message on the proboards site only. GMs are never allowed to complain or comment on a trade’s fairness on the boards. If you bring the trade to the commissioner’s office attention, it will be looked into and action will be taken, if deemed necessary.
-Any concern voiced to the commissioner’s office about a trade will be kept private and never shared with others.
-Only under extreme circumstances will the commissioner’s office veto a trade.
New GM Trade Restrictions
-New GM's must be in the league for a minimum of 7 active days before they are permitted to trade.
Trades that Violate Salary Cap
-No team is allowed to make a trade that puts them over the salary cap. If a team does make a trade that puts them over the cap, the trade will be voided and all players returned to their original team.
Trades Involving Players with a Tag
-All tags apply to the current season and future seasons tags may not be traded. For example a 2018 RFA tag is applicable for the 2019 RFA bidding. A 2018 Franchise tag is applicable for the 2018/19 offseason. Therefore during the 2018 season, only 2018 tags may be traded IF assigned to a player prior to the trade announcement. A player may be assigned a tag during the season, by being announced in the designated RFA tag or Franchise tag board category first. When announcing the trade, the player must have the designated tag and the name of the franchise that owns the tag noted in the trade announcement. After a player has been assigned a tag and traded to another franchise, that tag can not be switched to another player later on, nor can the assigned tag be removed for another tag.
Trading Players with Expired Contracts
-Each year, effective 11/1 begins the offseason for the upcoming year. From this period until 12/31 there are a number of players with contracts that expired and the players will either be tagged or entered into free agency. Any players who have an expired contract in the time frame from November through December must have an RFA or Franchise tag assigned to them in order to be traded. You can not trade a player with an expired contract without a tag assigned prior to the trade. On 12/31 of each year all non tagged players with expired contracts are entered into the UFA pool for the upcoming Free Agency period.
